Stacho is serving a couple-year prison sentence. An open conflict arises in his cell. Marta, who lives with his mother, begins an affair with a young Irishman named Liam. Stach’s mother commits suicide. Stacho gets a compassionate pass for two days. He goes home where he meets his father, who he hasn’t seen for a long time. The night before the funeral a meeting occurs between Stach, Marta, their father and Liam. This meeting reveals many of the family’s secrets.

JERZY KOWYNIA
DIRECTOR ABOUT THE FILM
"The inspiration for this film comes from one of the plays by Sam Shepard, who I especially admire as a playwright. Some of the assumptions may have been a bit different, but the actual process of making the film convinced me that filmmaking is a collective effort. In such a complex endeavour you have to be perfectly prepared, at 100%, and we were only about at 95%. However, maybe it was worth losing that 5% in order to add some spontaneous inspiration or just mere chance.

KATARZYNA JANICKA
PRODUCER ABOUT THE FILM

It is 100% auteur cinema, an independent production. As usual in such ventures, a lot is done for the sake of the proverbial thank you, but this did not exempt us from the requirements of professionalism and did not allow us to make allowances for any element of the production. If something is wrong, there is no easy excuse for it. Wrong is wrong, no matter how independent the production is.

EDYTA TORHAN
MARTA PLAYED BY
"Marta is an entangled, love-seeking mature woman, stuck in a twisted, dark, actually incestuous relationship with her half-brother Stach. She lives with his mother and her stepmother, "tied" not only to the place but also to the pain she experienced there. This pain does not allow her to simply leave and live. Although she makes attempts, the past still catches up with her..."

TOMASZ SOBCZAK
STACHO PLAYED BY
"Stacho loves with a difficult love, a wounded love, an unhappy love, because it does not give happiness to anyone, but also with a strong, unbreakable love, he is a hostage of his difficult character, which on the one hand constantly multiplies the obstacles to achieving happiness, on the other, gives strength, faith that one day..."
